Liverpool vs Sporting Braga Match Preview

Liverpool FC will be facing a 1-0 aggregate deficit when they play host to SC Braga in the UEFA Europa League last 16 second leg.

A first half penalty by Brazilian midfielder Alan was enough to give Braga first leg advantage, but Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is confident the Reds can overturn the deficit at home. “Anfield is always an advantage for us. Even though we’re one down the fans can help us turn things around,” Dalglish told the official UEFA website.

Liverpool will be without captain Steven Garrard who is ruled out with a groin injury, while Luis Suarez is ineligible. Striker Andy Carroll could make his first European start for Liverpool against Braga.

First leg goal scorer Alan is set to start for Braga, and his fellow Brazilian Lima will start in attack. Lima told the UEFA official website this week that his team are confident of progressing to the last eight. “The second leg will be very difficult but we’re prepared and we’ll travel to Liverpool with the same ambition and desire to achieve our goal of reaching the quarter-finals,” Lima told UEFA.com.
